Every year, half a million babies in the U.S. are born prematurely. Premature birth is the leading cause of newborn death and many life long disabilities. The funds we raise in WalkAmerica support research that saves babies' lives. I had a picture perfect pregnancy. No one knows why my water broke 6 weeks early, but it did. Sophia was a fighter and did not require much intervention, however, thousands of babies born each year are not nearly as lucky as we were.
